Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine - gas mixed with oil, toro wheel horse, briggs stratton

Question
I recently started an Toro wheel horse model 12-31xl that had sat for a long time. It seemed to run fine till it ran out of gas.  I then started to replace the usual items, air filter, plug, gas filter , etc. I then went to change the oil and saw that a large amount of gas was mixed with the oil. Is this a indication that I have a cracked head or could this be a gasket issue?  The engine is a Briggs & stratton 12hp model 284707 type 1148-E1

This is a carburetor problem you have most likely the carb has problems with crud settling in the ports causing the float not to close thus letting fuel slip by into the head & the breather. Remove the carburetor and have it cleaned and rebuilt since it sat for a while most likely the gaskets and o-rings are dried out.
