Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray Lawnmower, murray riding mower, murray lawnmower

I have a Murray Riding mower with a B&S  16.5HP model 42A707-2653-E1 that wont start when turned over. Ive changed the spark plugs, clean fuel & changed fuel filter, cleaned the battery cables & posts & unfotunately when i turn it over you hear the starter spinning but wont fire. so im thinking the starter needs to be replaced but i dont know what i need to do to get the old one off. Will you please help.

The starter solenoid is either not pushing out the Gear,or the gear may be stripped.
check to see if your hear it spinning.If you look at the engine there are 2 bolts holding the starter in place. You will have to disconnect the battery first so the stat doesn't spin by accident causing you some pain.
