Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 37.7cc leaf blower, leaf blower, 7cc

Question
Eric,

Just picked up a fairly old Craftmans leaf blower with a 37.7cc two stroke. It doesn't run and looks like it has been worked on by the previous owner. I'm not getting any spark and upon further inspection it looks like one of the two wires coming out of the coil is severed (not the one leading to the plug) I'm not sure if this is a ground or if it leads to the throttle/cutoff assembly which is currently missing.

Answer
Did you find a model nubmer for the unit?  The model number will be on a sticker, about the size of a business card.

Usually most elctronic ignition modules will only have one small wire connected to them.  However, some older units had an exciter module seperate from the igntion coil.  It could also be for points if the unit is really old.

See you can find the model nubmer...the format will be something similar to xxx.xxxxxx or xxx-xxx-xxx.
