Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman 917.258900 kohler 22.5hp

I have a craftsman tractor with 22.5 kohler engine.  It runs kind of rough, but gets worse when mower is engaged.  It will not hardly move forward or reverse when mower is engaged and usually goes dead after a few seconds or so.  
I don't know if the problem is fuel or electrical.  Any thoughts?

I would start with the carb since 99% of rough running problems these days is caused by a dirty carb.  There are several videos on You Tube showing how to clean carbs.  You will need an air compressor to blow out all the carb passages.

You can also download the Kohler repair manual from their site.  Just input your engine information and the site will direct you to the repair manual.

Electrical issues usually cause the mower to stop immediately...that's why I would start with the carb.
