Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Motor cuts out, jumper cables, stator

Question
husqvarn mod# yth20f42t. motor is 20hp kohler sv600-002. I just tried starting my mower the other day and found that it only runs briefly after jumper cables are removed. Also headlights go out after jumper cables removed. Suspected culprit was charging system. I done some research and found these diagnostic test. Stator ohms should be 0.1 to 0.2. This checks out good. I then checked stator winding to ground to find no short. Jumped motor and removed plug on rectifier. Stator reading 46 vac but no vdc reading coming out of rectifier. I just installed new rectifier/regulator and got same challenge. I am not sure what I am missing but any further diagnostic would be greatly appreciated.

If your Engine Alternator Will Not Charge These can be the reasons.

Rectifier-regulator failed
Rectifier-regulator not grounded
Flywheel magnet not charged
Fuse blown or circuit breaker open

If the battery will not hold a charge, check to make sure the ground wire is attached properly. A loose or worn ground wire will cause the engine to lose power. The battery may also be faulty. If the electrical system is constantly blowing fuses, check that all the electrical leads in the engine are free of pinching. The alternator may also need servicing. If the engine continues to run even when it is switched off, check that the ignition kill switch is not faulty and that all the lead wires are free of damage and are not pinched.
What you need to do is attempt to charge the battery and if it will take a charge then all hope is not lost for this battery in particular. If it does not hold a charge during this testing phase then it is time to either buy a new battery or do one more check and make sure the battery fuse is not blown.
