Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro snowblower, torsion spring, assembly drawings

Question
QUESTION: Hi John,

spoke with you a few days ago.  I have a Toro snowblower model ccr2000 (38186).  Not sure if you remember posts.  Long story short, toro was stalling out under load.  I cleaned carb, replaced plug, mixed new gas but after assembling gas would not stop leaking from the fuel bowl.  I have replaced bowl gasket and torsion spring and it still leaks gas out of bowl at gasket.  It seems the spring could go on two ways.  I did not pay attention when taking it off.  first way would be long back of spring immediately facing towards you which would create less tension, then you can install long back of spring completely under the two tabs holding the pin for the float which causes more tension.  i installed it with the higher tension.  I am ordering the needle valve seat kit.  I have a feeling that the carb cleaner may have changed the seal.  please get back to me asap and let me know what you think.  thank you

Keith

ANSWER: Hello Keith:

>>I Remember the Question and was able to Locate it in the Archives.
>>If this Carburetor has a 2pc Needle Valve and the Seat was Not Removed when it was Soaked, then
>>The Seat is Damaged and Requires Replacing.
>>The Spring is Usually Installed so there is More Pressure Seating the Needle Valve Closed.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers (38186) and Click Search. Now Select View Assembly Drawings for your Year Model.

QUESTION: thanks John,

ordered seal kit and carb gasket.  seems easier to remove carb to replace seal.  i did not soak the carb.  I flushed with carb cleaner through the fuel line and main jet.  who would have thought that carb cleaner would destroy your seals.  it should say that on can.  hope this solves my problem, these little parts are getting expensive!

QUESTION: Hi John,

yet another question with this ridiculous snow blower!  got the needle inlet seal kit.  question is how do i get the little sleeve out of the inlet in the carb?  It looks like it is pressed in and the only way to get it out is to drill it out and press the new one in again.  I may end up taking the carb down the road here to a small lawn repair shop.  Not sure how much they'll charge me but i don't like the drilling part and possibly making the bore larger than it should be, then i'll need a whole new carb anyways!  Here's the kicker,  it hasn't even snowed since i tore it down, guess that's good!  thanks for your help

Answer
Hi Keith:

>>Sorry for the Delay. I have been Unable to Answer Questions Due to Health Issues. Thanks for Understanding.
>>The O-Ring Seat is Removed with a Small Pocket Screwdriver (Flat Tip) and can be Replaced (pressed in) with the Dull End of a Drill Bit.
>>Make sure the O-Ring Flat Side is Towards the Carburetor Body when it is Pressed into the Inlet Port.
