Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Cub cadet ltx 1046 with 22 HP Kohler® Courage® V-Twin OHV engine not turning over, jumper cables, compression stroke

Question
I have less than 20 hours on my new Cub ltx 1046 with the Kohler® Courage® V-Twin OHV engine.  The problem appears to be w weak charging system / bad battery.  What happens is when I go to start the enging, or restart it, sometimes it will not crank past the compression stroke.  I can manually turn the engine over by hand.  Adding jumper cables to the battery works at getting it started, or spinning the engine with a 1/2" drill will also get it to start.  I've replaced the battery, and the gauge shows that the voltage is at 14 volts once the engine starts.  Could it be a weak starter motor?

Thanks for your thought!
