Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh snow king start problem, float bowl, snow king

Question
tecumseh model LH195SP snow king engine will not start.  I've checked the spark plug; it is almost new and is getting spark and the plug is slightly wet after starting attempts.  Just put new gas in the tank, and the carb bowl is full.  After I prime the engine and open the choke one click it will start for about 2-3 seconds and then stop.  If the choke is fully open or fully closed it will not start (I've visually confirmed the choke position in the inlet).  Thanks for your help

Answer
Did you drain all the old fuel from the carbuetor by removing the float bowl nut?  Are the holes in the float bowl nut clean?

The symptom you described is almost always fixed by removing, dis-assembling, and cleaning the carb with carb cleaner and blowing compressed air, from an air compressor, through all the carb orfices.

You can find several videos on You Tube covering carb cleaning.

To recap, try draining the carb first and cleaning the float bowl nut.  If the problem persists then you will need to do a carb cleaning.
