Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs runs rough when hot, internal passages, adjustment screws

Question
QUESTION: Briggs 190402 Type 0696-02 Code 7205101
Starts easily, runs great.  After about 10 min. I have to adjust carb to get it to run smoothly.  Have thoroughly cleaned carb and installed kit.  Ground valves.  Replaced head gasket and cleaned head.  What next?  Many thanks in advance...You are always so helpful.

ANSWER: Hello Bill:

>>From the Question, I See that I can Welcome you Back.
>>Thanks for Your Comments.
>>What are the Valve Clearances Set at?
>>What Spark Plug are you Using?
>>Why was the Head Replaced?
>>From your Description it Sounds like the Valve Clearances are Too Close when at Operating Temperature and you are Losing Compression Due to the Valve Clearances  and Not Allowing the Valves to Seat Completely.
>>As Always, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

QUESTION: John - Yes!  Both valves were out of adjustment.  I adjusted valves.  Now, why would I have to turn both carb adjustment screws out so far to get it to run smoothly?  Many thanks

Answer
Hi Bill:

>>Did you Soak the Carburetor in Cleaning Solution or Did you Use Spray Cleaner to Clean the Carburetor?
>>If you Used Spray Cleaner, then
>>The Carburetor May Still have Varnish in the Internal Passages and Soaking the Carburetor is Required to Remove the Varnish.
