Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite trimmer fuel supply problem, small screws, line attachment

Question
I have a Homelite trimmer model ST175BC.  When I received it, it didn't run at all.  From previous successes with this problem, replacing the fuel lines solved the problem.  When removing the old fuel lines, I didn't remember which of the two lines went into which of the two carb outlets/inlets.  There is a upper and lower fuel line attachment.  The long fuel line is attached with a fuel filter.  The short fuel line - I think - is attached to nothing inside of the fuel tank. My problem is attaching the two fuel lines coming out of the fuel tank to either the upper or lower carb outlets - I don't know which line goes where - and if the length is critical for each of the two lines.  I tried switching them back and forth.  I actually got the trimmer to run briefly - then died.  Could it be that the short fuel line is too long? - in the wrong carb outlet?  I looked at my other trimmer - 4 stroke Troy Bilt. The one short line is actually hanging in the air - only the fuel line with the filter is coming from the gas tank.  This trimmer has two fuel lines coming from the gas tank. Suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again John for your help.

Answer
Hello Ron:

>>Look at the Carburetor and Locate the Diaphram Cover Plate that is Held onto the Carburetor with 4 Small Screws and the Plate has a Small Hole in it.
>>The Fuel Return Line is Attached to the Port Nearest this Plate.
>>The Length of the Fuel Line has No Effect on the Units Operation.
