I have a Murray 42" cut lawn tractor, circa 2002, with a 17.5HP Briggs & Stratton engine

When starting, the flywheel will rotate 2-3 times and then just "freeze up".
Battery is fully charged - starter motor is fine (tested it by removing it and starting as normal)
When I try to rotate the flywheel by-hand, it is extremely difficult. It seems "stuck" on something, but after about 1 turn, it loosens up.

Have you checked your valves one of them our probably not closing all the way.Does your magneto rub on flywheel maybe on one side? also check if the key way on the engine is sheared.Check your under the deck,something may be wrapped around the engine shaft. Or the clutch maybe burnt out or broken and wont let the engine turn.
