Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Weedeater BC24w wont run when hot, line trimmer, engine temp

Question
QUESTION: My Weedeater BC24W line trimmer starts easily from cold and runs OK on half choke until it warms up, but when it gets hot after about 5-10 minutes of trimming, it will not idle and stalls.
At this point you can keep it running by keeping the revs high, but eventually it "bogs" and dies.  It will only re-start using full choke followed by half choke once it fires, but will not continue running without choke.  I have tried altering the idle and full throttle mixture screws, but no change.
I have had it serviced and they changed the plug and tuned the mixtures, but this made no difference as it needs to run for at least 5-10 minutes before this problem arises.
Any ideas?

ANSWER: Hello Greg:

>>From your Description it Sounds like a Restricted Muffler/Exhaust Port or the Rings/Jug/Cylinder are Worn Out and Require Replacing.
>>When this Happens, does the Engine Turn Easily when trying to Start it?
>>If Yes, then the Rings/Jug may be Worn and Require Replacing.
>>If No, then Check the Muffler and Exhaust Port for Blockage.
>>If the Muffler or Exhaust Port are Slightly Blocked, then the Engine Temp will get Too High and the Jug/Cylinder can and will Expand Past the Point of Ring Expansion and the Unit Loses Compression.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi, John
Thank you for your response - here's an update.  When this problem occurs there is still plenty of compression, so I checked the muffler/exhaust port for blockage, but nothing - no carbon build-up or anything.  There was slight blocking of cooling fins in the general area by grass, so I cleared that.
Upon re-assembling and starting the trimmer, I now find it will not run without at least half choke even when it warms up. If you turn the choke off it runs if you keep the revs well up, but won't accelerate and eventually dies as if you flicked off the switch.  Any further suggestions would be welcomed!
Thanks
Greg

Answer
Hello Again Greg:

>>Did they Change the Fuel Filter in the Tank when they Serviced this Unit?
>>Has the Carburetor been Soaked and Cleaned?
>>It is Possible the Screen in the Carburetor is being Restriced and the Carburetor Requires Cleaning.
>>When the in Tank Filter begins to Age they Breakdown into Small Fibers that will Flow to the Carburetor Screen and Slowly Restrict the Fuel Flow through the Screen.
>>When the Engine Quits, these Fibers are Pulled from the Screen because the Fuel Flows Backwards.
>>When you Restart the Engine these Fibers are Again Pilled to the Screen and they Slowly began the Restricting Process Over again.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.
