Car Stereos: Subs, rockford fosgate amp, boost control

I have two alpine type r's an alpine deck and a rockford fosgate amp. I hooked everything up and it is not working correctly. there is power going to the subs, but they dont sound right at all. i just bought a new box because i thought it might be a seal issue and that helped a little bit, but did not solve it at all. when i unplug my bass boost control (the phone jack wire) the subs completely lose power. everything is brand new and i dont know if i could just have something wired wrong or what.  if you have any advice anything would help.

Hi Chris.

Where do you have your gains set up at.

the gain controller should be at 3/4's bass boost 1/2 way.
and the crossover should be set anywhere between 34 to 70, also you need to know whats the impedance on the subs and how they are wired, also you need to check whats the power handling on the amp and the load that it supports.

check first the gains and crossover and let me know if it doesnt work.
