Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): oil filters, john deere tractor, briggs and stratton

Question
can a Kawasaki oil filte rpart number 49065-2078,be used on a briggs twin air cooled engine (john deere tractor)

Answer
Based on the OD specs the filter will not fit but you could always measure the OD of the sealing o-ring.

Specs for the Kawasaki filter:

OD: 2 11/16", Height: 3", Micron: 25, Thread Size: 3/4" -16
9-12 PSI pressure relief, Anti-drain

Which Briggs and Stratton engine do you have?  Do you have the Briggs oil filter part number to compare the filter specifications?

Here are the specs for one of the Briggs filters:

OD: 3" Height: 3 7/16" Micron: 27 Thread Size: 3/4" -16 Large version filter Pressure lubrication engines 8-11 PSI pressure relief Anti-drain

You can go to Stens mower parts website and compare all the filter specs.  Just type in "oil filter" and search.  Lenght does not matter that much as long as you have enough room to mount it but you may have to add a couple of ounces of extra oil.  For shorter filters you may have to reduce a couple of ounces of oil but I prefer not to use shorter filters.

It would be easier to find another 3" OD filter than to use the Kawasaki.
