Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): dr brush mower, kawasaki motor, dr brush mower

Question
Eric, I'm looking at a Dr brush mower on ebay item #120594649492.the seller says it's got a 17hp kawasaki motor, 26"deck and is approx 7yrs old with 10hrs on it.what do you think it's worth?

Answer
Dr brand seem to hold their value fairly well but I haven't seen too many come through the shop for sale in a while.  We often put these on consignment for customers and we usually get between $1200-2000 depending on the condition and age.

It's hard to what shape the unit is in by the pictures but based on the decal condition I'd say the machine has not seen much use.  Are you able to go see the unit and test it?  Sight unseen I would not recommend paying more than 50% of the value, $1500-1700, of a new unit.  If you can see it, test and pick it up it may be worth a few hundred dollars more.  It has an electric start so make sure the battery is good or deduct $100 to replace.  This is just my two cents but it's up to you to decide how much it is worth for you.
