Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Power Washer Engine, briggs and stratton, valve clearances

Question
I have a Briggs and Stratton Quantum engine 12H812-2324-01-03082657 on a 6 horse power Excell power washer.  Will only start if I spray it with quick start, but it will not keep running.  I soaked the carburetor in gunk for 12 hours one day and then 24 hours another day.  It still will not run.  Needle valve seems to be working because there is gas in the bowl.  Can you help?  Thanks.  Joe

Answer
Hello Joe:

>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the B. Then Select Briggs and Stratton. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Select the File #12. Then Select the Folder #12H800.
>>Did you Clean the Main Jet Bolt (#17 or #18) in the Bottom of the Bowl? Usually there is a Small Hole in the Bolt that Holds the Bowl Onto the Carburetor.
>>Check the Intake Manifold Mounting Bolts for Tightness.
>>Has the Valve Clearances been Checked?
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
