Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn tractor ignition switch, craftsman lawn tractor, tractor model

Question
Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn tractor ignition switch, craftsman lawn tractor, tractor model
Ignition Switch
My son jammed a screwdriver into the ignition switch of my craftsman lawn tractor, model 917.288250, 22HP, 42" mower.  when i attempt to start it with the key, i get absolutely nothing, not even resistance against the key that would tell me that i am turning something.  i want to remove the ignition so that i can see if there is anything salvageable, or if i need to replace the switch.
I am having trouble removing the switch and am afraid that i will break the part that holds the switch in place.  Do you have any tips that will help me remove the switch?  I have already unplugged the harness that is connected to the switch.

thanks a lot,
Chris

Answer
Hello Chris:

>>There should be a Nut Around the Key Hole of the Ign Switch that Holds the Switch and there May be 2 or 3 Fit Ears that Snap Onto the Switch Housing also.
>>Remove the Ign Switch Nut and then Slightly Lift Each Ear and Push the Ign Switch from the Ign Switch Hole.
