Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Old Sears Craftsman Electric Chainsaw, chainsaw sharpening tools, sears craftsman

Question
I have an old Sears Craftsman electric chainsaw that I found in my garage and I have a few questions on it.  I believe it's a 14in chainsaw and the model number is 315.34150.  I plugged it in and apparently it still works, but the chain is dull.  What kind of replacement chain can I get for this?  Can I put a new bar (and chain) on this chainsaw and make it longer (16, 18, 20 inch?)?  Can you tell me any more details about this thing (technical specifications, horsepower, etc.)?  Is this thing worth using or would it be more worth it to buy a new one?  Lastly, do chainsaw sharpening tools work well, or is it better to buy a new chain?  Thanks.

Hello rich:

>>To View a Breakdown of this Unit Go to this Site Addy, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action?sid=PSHx20080114x00001 and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. From this Page you can View Diagrams and Parts Lists.
>>The Suggested Replacement Chain for this Saw is Sears #33SL054G .
>>I Suggest you take the Saw to your Local Small Engine Service Center and Ask them to Match up an Aftermarket Chain, Bar and Sprocket and then Record the Replacement Part Numbers for Future Reference.
>>Chain Sharpeners are Only as Good as the Person Operating the Tool.
>>It is Usually Worth the Cost to have a Spare Sharpened Chain Ready and have your Local Small Engine Service Center Sharpen the Dull Chain.
>>You will Usually Sharpen a Chain 6 or 7 Times before it has to be Replaced.
>>As for Using it or Buying a New One, I Suggest you Find out How Hard it is Going to be to Locate the Sprocket and Bar before you make that Decision.
>>I Suggest you Actually go with a Shorter Bar. A Shorter Bar will Allow the Electric Motor to Operate at a Cooler Temperature and the Motor will Last Longer.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
