Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Kohler 10hp, john deere lawn tractor, john deere lawn

i am working on a john deere lawn tractor model 210. it has a 10 hp kohler motor on it. whenever it starts the motor runs great at low idle. however whenever i go to give it gas, the motor starts shaking violently, and dies. the motor is a model k241aqs, with a spec of 46785. could this possible be the timing, or maybe a vacuum leak somewhere. please help. thank you, bob

HAS THIS ENGINE BEEN APART  THAT YOU KNOW OF

BECAUSE  IT SOUNDS LIKE  THE BALANCER TIMMING IS OFF  OR HAS NOT RETIMMED PROPERLY
HOW BAD IS THE SHAKING OR VIBRATION ?

A AIR LEAK WONT MAKE IT SHAKE  IT WILL MAKE IT RUN POORLY THOUGH
