Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn Mower Direction, rear flap, carborator

Question
Hi,

Someone just told me to tip the lawn mower for cleaning so that the carborator is up.  I don't know where the carborator is or what to do.  I'm a new lawnmower owner.  Please help.  Can't find the instruction book.

Thanks.

Answer
hi shelley

let me know what  brand engine  the mower has on it

and i will let you know

basically the carburettor has a air filter situated on top  and  a fuel line runs  from the tank to carb -  if you know where the throttle cable is  and follow where it goes to  from the  handle   you should get to basically where the carb is

basically if its briggs   tip the mower back on its rear flap and rear handles

if it tecumseh   tip the mower on its side  so that carb and muffler face up towards the sky

cheers  hope it helps
