Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 12 hp briggs, hacksaw blade, hp briggs

Question
hello my names Kyle i have a 1970 or 71 bush hog tractor with a 12hp Briggs shaft driven and it had 1 and 1/2 inch (i think, the diameter really isn't important) pipe for the exhaust, but i was taking it off so i could run a different exhaust and when i was taking it off the pipe broke leaving just the threads, threaded into the exhaust port. how can i get this out so i can put another pipe on it? would it be ok to drill and tap, although i would like to prevent this.

Answer
HI KYLE

HAVE YOU TRIED  HEATING THE EX OUTLET AND PIPE THREADS  , THEN UNSING A FLAT PUNCH AND PUNCHING IT AROUND THE WAY IT WOULD NORMALLY UNSCREW?

IF THAT FAILS  TRY USING A HACKSAW BLADE  HELD IN A SINGLE HANDED  HACKSAW UNIT
AND TRY CUTTING 2  CUTS IN THE PIPE THROUGH IT TO THE CAST THREAD   ( CAREFULLY)
THIS RELIEVES TENSION ON THE ALLOY CASTING  , THEN USE PUNCH TO ROTATE IT OUT
USE SOME MORE HEAT IF HAVE TO  WHILE YOU DO THIS

MAKE SURE NO PETROL DRIPPING OR AROUND WHILE HEATING TO AVOID FIRE OR EXPLOSION

CHEERS  HOPE IT HELPS
