Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LT 150, vacuum hose, lt150

Question
I have a 15 hp ohc mod cv155 that seems to lose prim on the fuel pump. when this happens i have to take the gas cap off and using my air hose pressures the tank and it starts right up. Is the pump bad or do I have an air leak some where? Thanks for your time Rich.

Answer
I am assuming you are referring to a HUSQVARNA LT150, with a KOHLER engine am i correct?

it sounds like you have a weak vacuum, so check the hose that is attached to the engine block and fuel pump make sure there are no cracks in it.

Make sure your gas cap is venting properly.

Take the fuel line off from the fuel tank and see if you have good flow before it reaches the fuel pump

You can also check the condition of your pump by removing the hose that goes from fuel pump to carb (Fuel pump end)and cranking the engine over.  IT should spurt fuel as your cranking.   (Be sure to have a bucket or something to catch the fuel as its spurting)

If its not a bad vacuum hose from engine to fuel pump, gas cap venting or a a fuel flow problem, you do have a bad pump.
