Question
Hi Paul,
Can you please help, I need to to remove the base plate from a Honda 5.5hp Gx160 lawnmower and need to ask is it left handed or right handed thread as it will not come off in either direction easily.
Thankyou
Gerry

Answer
hi more info please

is this a  vertical shaft  engine  ?  in which case it may be a gcv160   with diagonal split c/case  the blade bolt is normal   undo it   anticlockwise

lefty  loosey  - righty  tighty

or a horizontal shaft as fitted to like a reel  mower  in which case it has a vertical split c/case

should be straight forword , drain engine oil , pull any adapter fitted to pto , remove key
clean pto shaft with emery cloth, remove any burrs from shaft, undo bolts holding  c/case sump plate to engine and remove   sump plate -  make note of  camshaft timming marks and keep parts in orginal places

i suspect you may have the du brg in the sump plate binding up on a build up of rust / burrs

if this is not of any help  please contact me further   with more info

cheers  paul
