Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Leafblower, push button switches, spark plug wire

Question
QUESTION:   Hello
 Where would I find info on a Hoffco HB250 leafblower, I need the wire hookup for the kill switch (push button). A diagram or schematic is what I am looking for.
         Thank You

ANSWER: Searched the net found very little on Hoffco blowers.   If the blower is newer than 1981 then you should have a solid state ignition.  Most common solid state ignitions use a single coil ignition module.  Remove what ever parts you have to to gain access to the ignition system.  If there is only one wire or post, excluding the spark plug wire, on the igntion module just connect one side of the push button kill switch to the single wire/terminal.  The other push button kill wire justs connects to any engine metal part.  Some push button switches are ground via the mounting point so you may only have one wire.

When you push the kill button the primary side of the ignition coil is shorted to ground which causes the ignition module to stop producing spark.

Did you google Hoffco power equipment?

QUESTION:  Does anyone have a link to a Hoffco HB250 repair manual? I can easily hook up this kill switch but would like to see how it was done when assembled.
         Thanks Stephen

Answer
After Googling Hoffco I found this link that said Hoffco is out of business.

The links below have Hoffco contact information;

http://www.hoffcocomet.com/hoffco/

http://www.hoffcocomet.com/

http://www.hoffcocomet.com/hoffco/service.htm

The company in the link below claims to sell new Hoffco equipment.  You might try emailing or call them to see if they have parts diagrams.

I have seen and worked on Hoffco trimmers in the past but was able to find aftermarket parts to repair them so I never needed a repair manual or parts list.

I have not been able to find any Hoffco manuals on the antique message boards but it wouldn't hurt to submit a request.

Let me know if any of the links help.
