Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Transmission disengage, craftsman lawn tractor, snowblowing

Hi - hope you can help!

I have a 20 hp craftsman lawn tractor DYT 4K, and i disengaged the transmission to roll the tractor around a tad to install rear wieghts for snowblowing.  Now i cant get the transmission to engage. I pulled the lever (rear) to engage and when i disengaged the lever, it never engaged.

What do i need to do to fix this.. need to snowplow my drive way bad!

Hi Rick,

The most obvious source of this problem might have to do with the cable that is attached to the lever.

Check to make sure that the cable is not slacked off, or in any way improperly installed.

It doesn't sound like the engine is the problem, it sounds like the handle to engage isn't working as it should.

Anyhow, try it out and let me know.
