Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD tractor, pb blaster, kroil

How do you remove tires that are stuck on the transaxle of an older MTD 700 series tractor. I also need to remove the transaxle, I think, to see why it is in gear. Tractor will no go to neutral.

Lots of penatrating oil...not WD-40.  PB-Blaster or even better Kroil.

Are there any holes drilled through the rim?  If so you can use a puller to help removed the rims.

DO NOT hit the end of the axle!!  You will flare the tip of the axle and then you have a real problem...based on experience.
