Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): GX200 Carb, oil shutdown, troubleshooting step

Question
After the GX200 Engine is not is use for several months it will not start. Is it possible the needle valve is stuck closed. Is it possible to use reverse engineering and use air pressure and Chem. to blow the carb?

Answer
Before we start on the carb, is this a Generator application?  OR is it an application that has a low oil shutdown switch in it?  If so make sure you have the proper oil level and then try to restart the engine.  If the engine does not have enough oil it will not start.

I doubt that the needle valve is is stuck closed.  Its more likely that you have stale fuel in the carb bowl or the inlet pipe has become varnished.

The best way to rectify this is to do the following:

                      TROUBLESHOOTING

Step one:  Remove the air filter housing and spray a little carb cleaner in the carb.  Does the engine run for a couple of secs and stop? If so its a carb/fuel related problem.

Completely drain the fuel tank and fill with fresh fuel.

There are two screws on the bottom of the carb.  One is directly on the bottom and holds the carb bowl onto the carb body.  The second is located off to the side.  Loosen the screw on the side and allow the fuel to drain out.  Refill the tank with fresh fuel and try restarting.

Let me know if this works or not, if not Ill take you step by step through the carb cleaning process.
