Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler engine dies on revved up, bolt hole, head bolt

Question
I have a power king model 1614 with a 14 hp kohler model k321s with a breakerless ignition system.  Engine starts and idles, but once you rev the engine, it sputters and dies.  I have installed a new carb, new fuel pump, new spark plug and wire, new coil, new head gasket and had a valve job.  I replaced the old gas with fresh.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Have you checked the engine vacuum?  Does the engine burn or consume oil?

Have you checked the intake gaskets?  Make sure the gasket hole is the correct size.  I had a weed eater once where the customer install a gasket with a hole smaller than the intake tube/manifold...took me forever to figure that out.

Another odd problem I had, similar to yours, were leaky head bolts.  A friend happened to hold a flashlight in the right position and we saw tiny bubbles coming out from one head bolt.  Turned out the head bolt hole enlarged over time causing it to leak.  Drilled out the hole and inserted a bronze bushing to resize head bolt hole.  Worked great after that.

Have you tried priming the engine with a primer bottle to see if you can keep the engine running at full speed?  This will tell you if too much or too little fuel is being delivered to the engine.  I suspect not enough fuel is being delivered.

Was the replacement carb the OEM part number?
Let me know.
