Question
John, My Chain saw won't start. It's a 40cc Model with a Serial No. 96326h100042. I've checked the fuel lines and the have fuel in them, the Spark is getting to the Plug but I can't get it to fire off. I've cleaned out the fuel tank and blew out the Lines w/o success. Any Ideas? Thanks Dick

Answer
First, remove the muffler and look at the piston, and tell me what
it looks like.  If it is scored badly, then it will mean to go no
further.  If the saw was overheated, the piston literally melts and pins the rings down.
If it looks good there, then remove the air filter and squirt a shot of carb spray or fuel in the carb, and try to start.  If it starts and dies, then you need to remove and rebuild the carb, which is essentially totally dismantling and cleaning and replacing bad parts.
