Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kohler 25 hp engine, hp kohler, adjustment screw

Question
I have a 25 hp Kohler OHV twin that keeps bending the intake push rods. I changed them and it run fine for 15 minutes.  Then next time I started it the intake rod bent again. I changed the oil to 10w-30 as suggested by one Kohler shop but it did not help.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hello Jerry, sorry about the delay. I hope I can be of some service. Here is what I think is the problem, when it comes the over head valves, you should have an adjustment screw in the push rod end of the rocker arm. This screw is moved in or out until the recommended clearance is obtained between the valve stem and the rocker arm. What I would do is find out what the clearance is. There might be more to this. I hope this helps!
