Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Lawn Tractor 917.270821, craftsman lawn tractor, briggs stratton

Question
Tim, My tractor has Briggs & Stratton I/C Platinum 19.5 HP turbo cool engine. My tractor wouldn't start this spring, the gas is not getting pumped to the carb, in fact not even to the filter.I replaced the fuel filter, added gas and checked all fuel lines from the gas tank to the carb for blockage. All appears to be ok. Any idea as to what the problem could be and how to resolve? Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hello Rich, not really familiar with your type of lawn mower. However, I do have several suggestions. It sounds like you have a fairly newer model of lawn tractor;(good for you). I am guessing here, but if you have a fuel injection system, fuel travels from the fuel tank to a filter and then to the pump. The fuel control part of the system consists of sensors and a control module. When the key switch is turned to the Run postion, the control module and the sensors work together to energize the fuel pump. Also you might have a fuel shutoff switch. Look to see if you have a fuel pump, and also make adjustments to your idle screws, jets, etc. Oh and if you can get yourself a manual. Sorry I couldn't be any more help! Let me know what happens!
