The lawn mower starts but after the gas that was forced into the carb from the primer burns it quits running.  You can prime it again and it will run great until the gas from the prime runs out again.  Any suggestions?

your carb pickup tube or inlet jet is obstructed. You will need to disassemble the carb and clean it thouroughly .  It should then run like a champ.

Obstructions are normally caused by gasoline left in the carb in the off season.  

Try filling the tank with fresh gas-less then 7 days old, and keep the engine running by priming it, it MIGHT work its way through.  (sometimes this works, not always)
