Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs and Statton Quantum 5.5 hp, briggs and statton, youtube video

Sorry, I do not have engine numbers available right now however lets try. I have this engine on a KMart mower (Fridgedaire made). My starter rope is about to break. Can this repair be done and do I need entire assy. or can I use a B & S rope kit? I am fairly mechanical with basic repairs; plugs, oil change, wheels, brakes on cars.

I don't know how to explain the process to you. You can find new pull-cords at home depot; they're universal. But I can direct you to a youtube video explaining in detail how to do this. The guy who made the video is my friend dave. Go to youtube, and click the "Channels" tab. Then type in "davidsfarm". His recent videos should include a video that teaches you this technique. It's called "How to repair a pull rope starter", or something like that. Hope I helped! Let me know how it goes.
