Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman mower wont stay running, lawn mower parts briggs & Stratton model number discountonlineparts lawnmower parts

Question
My Craftsman push mower won't stay running. I prime it 3 or 4 times, pull the pull start cord and it runs for 3 or 4 seconds and then dies. I checked/cleaned the air filter, put in fresh gas, checked/cleaned the spark plug and since there's no "run" switch, I'm sure that's not a problem. Could it be a dirty/clogged fuel filter? The engine is a Briggs and Stratton 7 HP, model/family YBSXS.1901VE.... then there's another number below that one... 275078

Answer
Hi Jerry, your carburetor has dirt or some foreign material in it. It needs to be removed and cleaned thoroughly. This should take care of the problem.  Just so you know if you decide to replace your carb you will need to have the model number and type number off of your engine to find the correct carb.  The family number does not help when you are trying to find a parts diagram for Briggs.  The model number is always stamped in on a metal peace on the engine.  It might be on the metal shroud that covers the flywheel or on a metal peace that covers some of the exhaust.  If you need a rebuild it or new briggs & stratton carburetor please let us know as we are a dealer.  http://www.discountonlineparts.com/lawnmower/?c=Carburetor%20Parts
