Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wet plug, excess fuel, sitting in the sun

Question
QUESTION: why is my lawnmower spark plug wet?

ANSWER: If your lawnmower won't run, and taking the plug out, it is "wet"
with excess fuel, then your engine is flooding and you may need
to do some carb work.  For more specifics, if you could give me some model numbers off of the engine, and a bit more detail of what the problems you are having, I could be more helpful,

Thanks

QUESTION: its a yardman td 4yrs old i cleaned the carb after leaving the gas in it over winter but don't know anything about carbs the spark plug is  wet with a greenish white fluid i put a lil gas in the hole & cleaned out with q tips not as much fluid on plug but it still wont start

Answer
Whitish liquid means moisture-water, green means water reacting
wither certain metals, so either is not good.  Check your oil level
and if water is in it, the oil will look milky.
The best thing to do, which I recommend to lots of folks, is to
remove the spark plug and air filter, then remove the fuel and oil
and then turn the mower upside down over some cardboard or newspapers
and let all the rest of the fluids drain out and leave sitting in the sun for a day, that will drain or dry up all of the moisture.

Then, turn the mower back over, install a new plug, oil and gas,
and then try to start, you might have to dribble some fuel in the carb opening until it gets going, then let the fresh fuel
work its way through the carb and hopefully clean out the crud.

If this does not work, please give me the model numbers off of the engine, and I can be more specific.

thanks
