Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): interchangeable engines?, sectional index, 6 digits

Question
I've been working on a B&S 170000 series snowblower engine and will finish in a couple days. Hopefully it will work. I think it's about 8 hp, though I'm not sure.

Last summer I only managed to get my tiller going once. That has a B&S 130000 serues engine. The original owner's manual states a maximum of 5 hp.

If the 8 hp snowblower engine would fit on the tiller, would that be ok, or could the extra hp damagw the tiller in some way?

Answer
Hello Jerry:

>>Usually you can Overpower Equipment up to 3 HP More than the Unit was Originally Powered with and Not have to Worry about Damaging the Unit.
>>When you Start Overpowering More than 3 HP, then you Start having too Much Torque and Damage Occurs.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select the Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM and Enter the Model (5 or 6 Digits) and Type Numbers (first 4 digits Only). Example: XXXXXX-XXXX. Then Double Click on the Model in the Results Area. Select Sectional Index. Now you can Select the Section of the Engine you Wish to View.
