Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LX188, lx 188, dirty check

My LX 188 does not run smooth at idle.  sounds like it is starving for gas.  The filter has little fuel.  Does this mean the ful pump is not working, if so how do I check to make sure?

Hi Jerry,

Check that the gas tank is at least half-full with fresh gas.

Check the air filter is not clogged or otherwise dirty.

Check the gas tank cap vent is not clogged.

Check if the carb is properly adjusted (to specifications).

Check that the ignition points are set properly and are not dirty or burned or out-of-adjustment.

THese would be some good starting checks.
