Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): not getting gas to carburetor, echo leaf blower, wd40

Question
i have an echo leaf blower model Pb200.i put a new diaphragm in the carburetor and replaced the fuel lines however i cannot get it to pump gas to the carburetor.could low compression be causing this and what do i need to do.

Answer
Lets check for all three things you need to make an engine run

Ignition:  Remove the spark plug BE SURE THERE IS NO GAS LEAKING from unit and hold the spark plug so that it is grounded against the cylinder, pull the engine over and if you have spark jumping the gap we have 1 of the 3 things we need to make engine run.

While you have the spark plug out IF you have a compression tester, take a compression reading...you should have at least 90psi of compression i would think.  If you have spark and compression we will move onto the final step

FUEL:  With the air Cleaner removed, take some flammable carb cleaner or WD40 and spray a small amount into the carb and see if the engine runs for a second and then dies.  If so you are correct in you assumption it is a fuel related problem.

IF memory serves me correctly there is a fuel impulse tube that connects from the cylinder of the PB200 to the Carb.  Make sure that there is NO cracks in this line as this is the vacum line that creates the vacum for the diaphragm to pump fuel into the carb.

If your lacking compression, remove the muffler and see if the rings and piston look good.  If there is "scoring" that is scratching of the piston and rings you have major engine damage.  Sometimes however the rings simply stick in the piston grooves from bad fuel.  Sticking Rings can cause lack of compression as well and will affect starting.

Let me know what happens...
