Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): White LT1850 transmission, hard job, clams

I need to replace my Transmission on my White LT 1850..dealer wants about 600 bucks to do it..So I was wondering if you could tell me if that would be a hard job to do..and maybe where I can find some instructions online that could provide some help..or would I be better off to fork over the 600 clams?..Thanks

You tractor is most likely made by MTD.  Look on the rear of the mower, under the fender or seat, for a sticker about the size of a business card.  The sticker contains the mower model number.

Send me the mower model number so I can look up which trans you have to determine how hard it is to replace.
