I Require the OEM (Walbro, Zama, ect) and the Model Numbers Off the Carburetor. With these I can Locate a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Better Assist you.

QUESTION: hi jon and many thanks i think it is a Tillotson HS-118B series if that makes sense to you many thanks martin

ANSWER: Hello Again Martim:

>>You can View a Breakdown of the Carburetor at this Site Addy http://www.tillotson.ie/ and Download the Flash Player. Then Enter the Site. Now Select Tech Info. Now Select Service Manuals from the Drop Down List Under the Tech Info Tab. Your Carburetor should be in the HS Series Manual. Once the Manual is Downloaded you can View the Carburetor in Breakdown Form. The Service Manual HS 50-100 or the HL 60-125 should Cover this Carburetor.
>>Check the Exhaust Port and Muffler also. If Either of these are Restricted with Carbon or Anything Else, you will have the Problem you Described.
>>Since this Carburetor has Set for So Long, it will Require Soaking and Cleaning Regardless of the Condition of the Exhaust Port and Muffler.
>>If the Exhaust Port is Clear, then Try Starting the Engine with the Muffler Removed. If it Turns Correctly, then the Muffler Requires Cleaning or Replacing.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck

QUESTION: hi john stripped the stihl 045 av down today and i think i may have found the problem, i took the carb completely off and the exhuast muffler and boht inlet and exhaust ports look fine, but i still had the samme problem. i then noticed that there is a plastic valve on the crankcase which i presume releases crankcase pressure, it must have a small bearing or something in, i poked a small needle in the end and the problem has gone, it still is hard to pull but it does not snatch the pullcord out of my hand anymore, so i think that valve is sticking, should i jus use some wd40 on it if that is the case. many thanks martin.

Answer
Hi Martin:

>>Yes Sir you can Use WD40 or PB Rust Catalyst to Clean and Lubricate the Compression Release Ball. Usually I Suggest Using PB Rust Catalyst First and then Champion Spray Lube. WD40 is OK but I Do Not Use it at Home or in the Shop.
>>From your Description you have Located the Cause of your Problem.
