Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Snowthrower Speed control spring, throttle shaft, cpdonline

Question
QUESTION: I have an MTD snowthower with an HMSK-100 (LH358SA 10h.p.) engine. Somehow I lost the speed control spring. I bought the replacement at a local shop, but I cannot find a diagram or schematic as to what this attaches to and how. The throttle has not effect, and it bogs down when it starts to throw snow. It would be part #19 on the engine diagram available on line (enhmsk10.1_pg1 LH358SA-159392Z/Engine.jpg 1).

Thanks!

ANSWER: What you mean to say is the "governor spring", this controls the engine rpm during loads. This site should have a picture for you, if not let me know, and I will find another link for you...GL, Tom

QUESTION: Yes! Governor spring! Unfortunately, that diagram does not show where or how the spring it to be attached to the throttle control. The Governor arm and throttle shaft are connected per the picture, but it does not show the spring, if it's loaded, which way it should be loaded, and what the ends attach to.

Thanks Tom!!!

Answer
Here is the entire Tecumseh factory repair manual for this engine. You'll find the governor section around page 31-33...Keep this link, it is the entire manual for your engine, and may be very valuable in the future for you......Let me know if you need additional information, Tom
