Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Australian Victa Bronco V40, 2-stroke GTS electronic ignition, jet filter, victa

Question
John,
This Victa 2-stroke has the plastic carb, since a carb cleanup when the engine now starts, it now revs very erratically and then dies. I've checked the float and the needle, and all seems OK. the main jet filter is clean and clear, the plug is gapped 0.63mm. I have reassembled this carb and rebuilt it several times now. Am I missing a very important step when rebuilding this plastic carb?

Answer
Hello Jeff:

>>If you have Soaked the Plastic Carburetor in Carburetor Cleaner and are having Problems After the 2nd Soak, then Replace the Carburetor if you are Sure it is the Casue of your Problem.
>>Can you Use the Choke to Stop the Engine from Surging before it Quits? If Yes, then the Carburetor is the Cause. If No, then Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Piston and Cylinder.
>>>> With the Spark Plug Still Removed, Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Piston and Cylinder. Looking through the Exhaust Port, you can See a Side of the Piston and if the Piston will Move you can Move the Piston so you can Observe the Cylinder Wall.
>>If the Piston and Cylinder Wall are Deeply Scratched and Gouged, then Most likely this Engine is Trashed and will havre to be Replaced.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
