Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Jacobsen Snowthrower, trouble shooting guide, tecumseh engine

Question
Several questions pertaining to a Jacobsen Imperial 26 powered by a Tecumseh 7hp engine.
The idle revs up and down, especially when there is load on the`engine and then stalls.  Can never get the choke closed all nthe way without stalling the engine.  There seems to be a small stream of gas coming from the bottom of the float bowl where there is a push pin. How to fix? Someone said I need a float kit and push pin? If so where do I find engine model?serial? and how to take apart to put a float in etc?  Thank You  Shad.

Answer
Hello Shad:

From your Description it Sounds like; 1- the Push Pin has a Rubber Seal that is Bad and Causing the Leak. 2- the Hunting/Surging Usually means the Carburetor Requires Soaking and Cleaning. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf  . This Site should show you Where the Model Numbers are Located. This Site Addy; http://www.outdoordistributors.com/Tecumseh/tmain.html has a Link to a PDF Trouble-Shooting Guide. Simply Select the Free PDF Download for the Tecumseh Trouble-Shooting Guide. Once you have the Model Numbers, You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. If you have the Units Model Numbers, then You can View a Breakdown of the Mower at this Site Addy; http://www.wfmiller.com/home.asp and Select Parts from the List at the Top of the Page. Then Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search. Now Select your Model and Double Click on it. Now Select the Section you Wish to View. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please.
