Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh HSSK50 Wont Stop, mtd snowblower, connections area

Question
HSSK50 engine mounted on an MTD Snowblower. Starts and runs OK but won't stop. I found a long green wire leading from the electrical connections area over to the other side of the engine. The wire had been attacked by mice I would guess. It went behind the housing that has the pull starter piece. Can you tell me where this wire is supposed to go? do I need to pull the flywheel to repair this? I did check the action of the throttle and the part that I think would cause the ignition to be cut at shutdown looks and seems to operate fine. I think this wire is my whole problem, I just don't know where it came from or how extensive a take apart is going to be to fix it. For now, I'm just pulling the plug wire, scary when wet :-)
Thanks for any and all advice.

Answer
Hello Richard:

The Cut Off wire to the Coil Sounds like the Wire you are Asking About. It is Connected to the Lug on the Coil and Sometimes it is Connected to the Control Bracket and then the Coil. The Instruction File I have Included will Tell you How to get to the Coil Shut Off Lug. The Following is a Basic Instruction File I Made for Checking the Coil/Ign Coil/Magnetron on Small Engines. Any Input is Appreciated. **To Check the Ign Coil; Remove the Spark Plug/s. Wrap a Wire Around the Threads of the Plug and Attach the Other End of the Wire to the Engine Block. Remove the Blower Housing (metal engine cover). The Wire that is Connected to the Coil/Ign Module from the Shut Off Switch needs to be Removed (unplugged) from the Coil/Ign Module. Now Check for Spark at the Plug. If Spark, then the Shut Off Switch or the Wire is Bad. If Still No Spark, then the Coil/Ign Module is Bad. If there are Safety Switches on this Unit and the Coil is Good; you Need to Check the Safety Switches for Being Bad Also.** You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing.
