Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S lawnmover. Oil over filled...wont start..., head gasket, combustion chamber

Question
B&S lawnmover. Oil over filled, then mover would not start. Drained oil, removed sp plug and turned over engine. Cylinder pushed out oil. Dried plug and replaced. Still no start. Oil is dripping from muffler. After 2 days it will start if I prime the carb, but stalls after 5 seconds. Gas tank is full. What do I do next?  tks, pa

Answer
The crankcase overfilled because the inlet needle in the carburetor did not seat.  To correctly resolve this you will have to install a carburetor kit and be sure to clean all air and fuel passages with a wire from a wire tie or something like that and blow it out with compressed air and carburetor cleaner.  Reassemble the carburetor reattach using new mounting gaskets and remove the head clean up all the oil that is accumulated in the combustion chamber replaced the head gasket in the spark plug and take the muffler off flush it out in hot soapy water let it dry for a couple of days and put I'm using a new muffler gasket or get the engine started and leave it run until the excess oil burns out of the combustion chamber and the muffler.  This will take some time the engine will smoke and the muffler will grep a black oily residue.  I would also suggest removing your crankcase vent and cleaning the oil out of the in replacing the gasket.  Be sure there is no crankcase leaks at the dipstick or oil filled to also check crankcase gasket to be sure it is not leaking.  I think that following this troubleshooting will result your issue.
