Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh 5hp, spec numbers, valve clearance

i have a tecumseh 5hp power sport engin and it has spark and its getting gas to the bowl but wont start unless i pore gas in the carb and then it ownlee runs for a second what is wrong

Tis is Usually Due to; 1- Low COmpression. 2- a Restricted Passage in the Carburetor. 3- a Bad Intake Gasket. 3- the Valve Clearance Requires Setting. Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.
