Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): replacing drive belt, butane torch, hammer puller

Question
On my Cub Cadet LT1024 You have to lower the PTO clutch and pulley. After removing the bolt, they seem stuck. Are there set screws or are they just seized? How do I convince them to drop?

Answer
First you need to make sure the belt is off too, that will pull it sideways, and give you fits, I know as simple as it sounds I have had people not take it off first, and try to remove them at the same time. Best remedy is HEAT, using a butane torch, or mapp gas which I prefer due to it burning hotter, and taking less time, than butane unless of course you have oxy-axcet. get it good, and hot then you may need like a bearing puller, or clawed sliding hammer puller......Thats how we do it....above all be patient, let it get good and hot around the shaft, there is no set screw.......Tom
