Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): go kart engine (briggs and strat 3 horse), horizontal shaft, throttle lever

Question
I have a question pertaining to this small briggs and strat motor. I am making a
go kart with this engine and i needed to know how to make the gas pedal work
with the motor. it is an old tiller and has a horizontal shaft. i need to know how
to attach a gas pedal. Thks.

Answer
This is a very simple procedure. The easiest way to go about this would to find (of all things) a clicky-type pen, and remove the spring. Now rig the throttle lever so that the spring holds the throttle closed. Tie a length of string to the opposite end of the throttle, and lead it to your gas pedal, which should also be on a spring holding it toward the idle position. Hope I helped!
