Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Techumseh Series 3/4 carb on a HM-80, air mixture, techumseh

Question
I bought a go-cart for the kids and it does not idle very well when it gets warmed up.  I took out the Idle Fuel Jet screw and there is no o-ring or spring as is indicated in the manual.  So the only way to get the Idle screw to "stay put" is to tighten it (all the way in).  I went to the internet to order an O-ring and spring but I cannot find these items.  Could this cause the problem that we are experiencing and where do I buy these items (the hardware store)?

Answer
Hello Troy:

The O-Ring Creates a Seal for the Threads of the Idle Air Mixture Screw. The Spring (some also have a very small washer between the spring and the O-Ring) Holds the O-Ring and Screw in Place During Engine Operation. These Parts should be Avaliable at you Local Small Engine Service Center. If your Local Small Engine Service Center cannot Locate them for Some Reason, then Let me Know and I will Attempt to Locate them for you. I Require the OEM (Walbro, Zama, Tillotson, ect) and the Model Numbers Off the Carburetor. With these I can Locate a Breakdown of the Carburetor and Better Assist you. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
