Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Removing engine, hole digger, engine part suppliers

Question
I am having trouble removing a B&S engine off a Sensation mower. The hub for the blade won't pop off. I know sometimes they are threaded. But if not do I need a gear puller.

Answer
Hello Frank:

Unless this is a Special Application Engine (Hole Digger, Generator, ect), the Blade Adapter is Usually a Slip Connection. Usually you have to Soak the Connection with Penetrating Oil to Loosen the Rust and Dirt that have Accumulated Between the Blade Adapter and the Crankshaft for the Removal of the Blade Adapter. If Penetrating Oil Does Not Work, then Heat and a Puller Are Required. Sensation Lawn Mowers were a commercial lawnmower brand created by Howard Phelps in 1944. Sensation brand lawn mowers are no longer produced but are still in use today. Mowers were available with the Sensation name up until the 1980's. In 1988 Gilson was bought out by Lawnboy, which was acquired in 1989 by Toro. The Sensation Mower Used a cone-shaped metal crankshaft support which was purported to help prevent bending of the crankshaft. Gilson has Since Gone Out of Business. You can Still Purchase Engine Parts and Accessories for these Mowers from Most Small Engine Part Suppliers. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
